New-ish X-Men: First Class Trailer Continues The Confusing Marketing Campaign

Author: Katey Rich
CinemaBlend.com

I'm almost to the point of believing that the marketing for X-Men: First Class is some kind of bizarre joke. The terrible, absurd-looking posters have been one thing-- hey, not everybody learns how not to abuse Photoshop-- but what really seems ridiculous is the amount of trailers that just find their way online without any fanfare, nearly all of them featuring new footage that seems to be slapped in at random. Every trailer has followed the same basic structure, introducing us to Erik and Xavier as young men and showing flashes of action scenes, and are so alike that you'd think there's nothing new to see. Except then, about a minute in, there's some awesome new shot of someone in a yellow suit jumping out of a plane, and you realize someone has gone to the work of cutting a new trailer, only to have the video show up online without any announcement or warning.

  1. The author thought that the people who were advertising the movie were horriable. she thought that it was a funny joke when they came out with their ads.THe author also thinks that they didnt tell anybody about the new trailers that they came out witjh and thought that was really unprofessional of them. I think them coming out with trailers and not telling anyone was the biggest main point of what she was saying.

Because if you come out with something you want people to know about it. so that they know that you have something new out. If i was in the company of the movie i would want people to watch my movie.i really havent seen all the trailers that the movie has came out with but, the author said that they all looked alike in a way, and i dont think that it really show how it could be something people would want to watch.

  2. The author describes the movie as a great action thriller. Also the movie is going to be like the star wars series. Meaning they play the end movies then the begining. Main point is to see the bond of dr. Xavier and magneto when they were friends. And watch magneto turn over to the dark side =(.

Im not confused about their marketing strategy!I think they need to add some new characters to make the movie more upbeat. I feel this movie will be really popular. Also this movie should be a top seller. The critics think it will make some serious revenue. Also i will be going to see it since i like the movie X-men

  3. the article calls this movie a bizarre joke. the posters that are terrible and absured looking. the movie company put random footage together in no particular order. there was also no fanfare when the videos were released. the stongest point is that their want any fanfare.

i think that the basis for the campaign is a good idea. i think that they should let potential consumers about the movie before hand. also i like how they put a bunch of footage together to attract costumers. i think that they should hav come up with another way to make the posters stand out and be more popular. overall i think this is a good strategy.

  4. The author feels that the advertising done for this movie hasn’t been really thought out. The trailer has not been released on television yet. Different trailers for this movie have been leaked on to the internet. The author of the article is annoyed at this because these trailers give away most of the movie. There is no official trailer so a number of different clips thrown together given the name trailer give the consumer no real reason to see the film. Merely because those that create these false trailers give most of the movie away. The author's main point is that this film has not really been organized well in its production. They could have done a better job by displaying the official trailer and with the designing of advertisements.

I agree with the author completely. I haven't really browsed online at all for upcoming movies but the thought of false trailers is just a pain especially for a movie I would want to consider viewing. It's definitely confusing, but just irritating rather for the audience because it spoils the movie. The advertisements are not done very well and the marketers of the film should have done what they can to prevent the confusion. The movie company should get rid of the ridiculous posters to diminish the ambiguity and create new ones that represent the film. It wasn't until I saw the trailer that I finally understood the movie was about the progress of Xavier after he was forced away from his mother. They really should get the point across and then they should have potential takers willing to go out and see the film.

  5. This author is just hating on the marketing of this movie and i dont know why. She is bashing the posters and the trailers. She says the posters are badly photoshopped but really i see nothing wrong with them. The movie trailer looked like the trailer to any type of movie but she just kept on hating. The author clearly is just looking to hate on X-men but she probably hasn't done anything with her life so why is she hating.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the marketing campaign. I don't think that the trailer or the posters will make anybody change their mind about seeing the movie. The fans of X-men are probably excited to see the movie and i thinkn the trailer and posters does a good job of building the hype. They shouldn't chang anything about their marketing campaign just cause somebody hates.

  6. The author of this article is really confused about the marketing strategy for the new X-men film. It seeems very bizarre to her and probably a joke. The trailer is unordothox and doesn't seem to make sense. The pictures of the movie are very plain, something which never occurs with pictures for movies. The strongest part of this article seems to be that the message for this movie needs to be more clear.

I am nto as confused with the movie campagin because i know it will be clarified in due time. The movie marketers are probably doing it for a reason, to atttract more customers. To clear up some confusion, the marketers can explain the reasoning behind their motives for the different aspects of the trailers. They could also make another movie trailer with a clear message.

  7. The new X-Men movie is taking the viewers back to the beginning. This movie is explaining how the characters became the people they are in the previous movies. It is like a background on the characters and their lives before X-Men. I think the strongest point of the article was the fact that every trailer has followed the same structure. They are also not releasing the movie till June 3 and people are asking what the hold-up is?

I don’t think the marketing campaign is working too well. First of all I don’t even understand why in movie series they give you the plot for all this time then decide to go back and explain the beginning. I like a movie series like Rush Hour or Fast & Furious. Those movie series are great and they continue the action where they left off. They don’t go back and explain previous information. That’s a waste of a movie.

  8. The view that the author is making is that there is going to be another great movie of the X-Men serious. The advertising campaign is really well because they are showing certain parts of the movie that will catch everybody attention so that they will come and enjoy the movie. The strongest point in the authors article is that her showing the preview.

My opinion on the marketing campaign is that they were very well done. She advertised really well, an I guess promoted as well. No it’s not confusing to me at all. The movie company can like show more scene from the movie but with not giving it away to much. Another thing they can do is have it out promoting on the streets to(billboards, theatre, commercial).

  9. Viewing the movie trailer and reading the article, the new Xmen movie seems kind of interesting. There were some main key points in the article that basically relate to the author’s advertising campaign. In the beginning of the article I really didn’t get the point that the author was trying to say. It states in the article, “I'm almost to the point of believing that the marketing for X-Men: First Class is some kind of bizarre joke. The terrible, absurd-looking posters have been one thing-- hey, not everybody learns how not to abuse Photoshop-- but what really seems ridiculous is the amount of trailers.” The three points are that they are trying to get viewers to watch this trailer, have eye catching words for the reader to get engage with the article, and had some special effects in the film.
I felt that this article was kind of confusing in the beginning but once he keep reading it you would get the main point that the author was trying to get. I think that the movie company could do differently in their marketing campaign to make the advertising message clearer and meaningful to the potential customer is that they could just go straight forward and talk about the new movie Xmen. I believe that this movie is going to be great. If they keep advertising this movie, this film will get a lot of audience, including myself.

  10. The author thinks X-Men: First Class advertising campaign is some can of joke. They slapped together some random clips of the movie for the trailer, which makes the movie look bad. Then the posters for the movie are photoshoped and look plain which isn’t getting anyone interested. The authors strongest point is that the advertising campaign for this big budget movie is bad, which is going show off in sales, when the movie premieres.

I agree with the author, I’ve seen much better trailers and poster for new big budget films, for example averter and batman. I don’t think it’s confusing, I just think it’s plain and not as exciting as it could be. Since marketers are paid to make the advertising campaign go strong, they should be producing better work than this. They should have different trailers not a bunch of similar ones. The posters should have slogan and more action in them. Overall they should completely change the advertising campaign, in order to make this movie profitable.

  11. The author says that it’s going to be an excellent thriller. Magneto is going be main character in the movie . Also a complaint is that the trailers have been leaked already. This is also irritating, the author keeps having their doubts. The trailer wasn’t that great.
I agree with the author. Mainly because the movie doesn’t look that interesting. I wouldn’t even consider viewing it. They need to change the advertising so that more people are interested. The ad is horrible. The marketing campaign isn’t that great.

  12. The author said that this movie will be an amazing thriller. The trailer has not been released on television yet. Different trailers for this movie have been leaked on to the internet. The author of the article is annoyed at this because these trailers give away most of the movie. There is no official trailer so a number of different clips thrown together given the name trailer give the consumer no real reason to see the film.

I kind of agree with the author on this one. The advertisements are not done very well and the marketers of the film should have movies they can to prevent the confusion. The fans of X-men are probably excited to see the movie.

  13. The author thinks that the marketing for this movie is some kind of bizzare joke. He goes on to say that the posters are terrible and absurb looking. Lastly, they talk about how all of the trailers have had the same basic structure. I think the most important and interesting point is that the trailers have the same structure. With the same structure being repeated you aren't being pulled in by new and interesting clips.

I do not watch X-Men so I personally do not know alot about it. By the way they talk about it in the article it seems to be boring and repetitive to other customers. I would change it up to a less confusing and more interesting trailer.
