Sports Fans Could Soon Tune in to Games Live on YouTube

Last year, YouTube announced that it would begin live-streaming Indian Premier League cricket matches, a venture that was apparently very successful. According to Business Week, the games brought in 55 million visits from more than 250 countries.

Youtube is going to be broadcasting NBA games and other sporting events live from the site. They tried this last year with cricket matches and were very successful. More people watch these games because not all the games are on TV and some people want to watch their favorite team.
ReplyDeleteI think that this is a very good idea for youtube and even better that the NBA and NHL are agreeing to it. More people will watch the games because there are alot of people that are on youtube to watch videos and this way they can watch games too. Fans that cannot watch their games because they are not on TV can finnally watch it. The target market they are reaching for is the fans that spend alot of time on the computer.

The first main key point is that they are trying to get viewers who are interested in different things. YouTube already has fans who like music, entertainment, humor, and politics videos but they haven’t had a lot of viewers who watch sports on YouTube. Here’s something that some of you may not know. If a person uploaded something that was made from someone else, like a musician, the video would get removed because of copyright issues. YouTube removes it because of the copyright. Then the person who uploaded the video has to edit the video so it doesn’t mimic the exact copy. That’s why it’s hard to find and watch sports games on YouTube, some parts are edited so you don’t really get the full excitement you would get if you had watched the game on TV. The second main key point is there won’t be just one sport to watch on YouTube, there will be a lot of different sports, meaning that people that like other sports can get to enjoy watching their sport too. The third main point is that if Google and YouTube are successful in launching this new idea, let’s just say the workers will be getting a raise on their paycheck. The fourth main point is that Google acquired Widevine which will contribute to the viewers being able to see the games on a site like YouTube. YouTube has limits on the number of minutes a video can have, but with Widevine….there is no limit! The fifth main point is that it makes everyone happy. People who can’t watch their favorite sport on TV can now go to watch it on YouTube.
ReplyDeleteI actually like this idea. I like it because it’s thoughtful and I believe that the people who came up with the idea were being empathetic. There are some people who don’t have the benefit of watching ESPN or the NBA channels for whatever reason there may be. They don’t have to feel bad about missing the game that everyone’s talking about because they can just go on the internet and watch it on YouTube. Sometimes people have places they have to go to on game day, sometimes it’s devastating that you don’t get to see the game but if you have YouTube, there’s no devastation for you. If I was YouTube, I’d market this by actually putting an Ad on the YouTube website saying, “Want to watch your favorite sport? Well coming soon you can now get to watch it here on YouTube.” I would put it on the YouTube website because a lot of people go to YouTube anyway, they can see the banner in front of them. Then I’d advertise it on ESPN, because that’s where most sports fans are tuning in right now.

Youtube is participating and striving to make videos of live streaming of sports. It is reportedly in talks with NHL and NBA to broadcast games live, youtube has already announced that it will begin live streaming indian premier matches. Youtube is more serious of bieng entertaining then just cat videos, it has also offered famous figures thier own channels. The most important key point is that youtube is live streaming sports now beacause that is very big news for sports fans and also it is big money for youtube so it is a win win situation.

If i was youtube i would advertise this ad on tv commercials. Also target market the idea with the athlethes that are gonna be in the live streaming videos of youtube.

ReplyDeleteIn the article that i just read, youtube is planning on streaming live games on their website. youtube plans on streaming live sport match ups because it will boost their ratings. youtube has already done a research by showing a live cricket match which attracted 50 million viewers. by youtube showing live NFL, NBA, NHL, and soccer games they will gain many new viewers. as of now, youtube is only in talk with the NBA, NHL, and soccer leagues in Europe for showing live games. to me i think youtube should show live games because by doing that they will gain many new viewers and make lots of money.

I like the idea of youtube showing live games on their website. if youtube shows live games they will satisfy many costumers that are not at home that can watch the game by a mobile device as well. also if someone does not have a T.V. and they only have a computer that would be very convenient for that costumer. if youtube were to advertise this, i think they should show commercials during NBA, NHL, or NFL games that show how they will show these live games and when the feature will be available. those are my thoughts on this article.

youtube is now getting more popular because of ther reason that they are bringing sports into the picture.why is it getting popular?because there are many people around the world that are fanatics of some sports and they will do anything to see their games.a big thing that is going to have an impact is the live streaming of NBA games on youtube specially in the U.S.youtube is also talking to the europe soccer leagues and thats going to have a big impact also.this article sais that the live straming of the indian cricketgames have brought them over 55 million views in a year in 250 countries.
ReplyDeletewhat i would do if i were youtube is that i would get these games as fast as i can because the faster i get the games the better its going to be because i would be getting more views.something else that i would do is thati would start charging people to see the games.not much money but i would charge them a little.something very important that i would do is that i would start bringing movies into youtube,i dont mean the trailers but the actual movie and i think there id=s going to be an increasin amount of people watching youtube.these are all ways that youtube can get either money or views.

The article that we read this week was about youtube showing live games on there site. The site says they are talking with the NBA and the NHL.Youtube has already kind of experimented with this before. They started showing live cricket games, and it became very popular. It brought in about 55 million viewers in many different countries. The most important point in this is that they have already experimented with this before and it was succesful.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a very good idea. Most people just see youtube to look up funny videos or see there favorite celebrity doing something crazy. So by adding this addition to there website youtube should bring in a lot more viewers then ever before. It's also good that there doing hockey and basketball so they appeal to more then one audience. To market this I would start making commercials to show it, and have side bar ads on ither websites so people become aware of this. That's what I would do.

It's true, when people want to look up repeats of a game or tournament the first place they go to is to youtube. Youtube is a place where people go to entertain theirselves by listening to music, watching videos and some people even post videos of things they do on youtube. If I were youtube I would place ads on any website people get on to get their attention. If possible a would even make a commercial talking about youtube and broadcast it. ReplyDeleteIn my personal response, incorporating live games on YouTube would be a swell idea, considering the fact that it would simply make it so much easier for sports fans to watch their favorite games online. If I were YouTube I would be ecstatic with this brilliant idea, because the target market is a large broad group of sports fans that would ultimately increase the amount of viewers on YouTube. I would also be happy because more money would be made this way, more promoted commercials would be incorporated in the website.
This article talks about YouTube and how they might start broadcasting live pro sports games straight from the website. YouTube had already been doing that for a cricket league in Indian and that was very successful. There have been rumors that the CEO of YouTube has been talking to the NBA and NHL. If this ended up happening YouTube and Google would make much more money because more people would be on the website. ReplyDeleteI like the idea a lot because it makes things more convenient for people including me. If I want to type a paper and watch that nights NBA game I could do that at the same time. Or if I wanted to play video games but also keep an eye on the game I could have my laptop right next to me. If I was YouTube I would market this product on TV with commercials and with ads. I would put it on the NBA and NHL’s websites with a link on the games saying watch this on YouTube or something like that. I would do whatever it took to make sure people notice this.

Youtube is supposedly going to start broadcasting NBA and NHL games on the site. They will not say anything to specific because the deal is not done. They recently broadcasted cricket games in Europe so that may what have been what sparked the idea. The cricket games were a huge success so its possible the NBA and NHL games in America will be as well.

It will also satisfy many people that don't have a T.V or are not anywhere near a T.V. Another benefit to someone watching games on Youtube is the fact that someone would be able to watch the game and browse the internet at the same time. Overall it is a great idea and they should deffinatly go through with it.
YouTube is thinking about broadcasting live sports. They have already tried to broadcast Indian cricket live on YouTube. YouTube is also planning to speak to the NBA and NHL to broadcast live games. This Article talks about the new feature YouTube offers. This new feature allow people to watch sport events live from YouTube. YouTube is currently in a talk with big with big sport associations like NFL and the NHL. YouTube has already tested this with cricket a game largely played out side of the united states and it was very successful. YouTube is also merging with different entertainment companies and entertainers to make its site an entertainment hub. I feel youtube can do so much better with sports and game highlights, also game review. It would generate more views from people.

I think the one advantage youtube has is having google as a parent company and the popularity of the sight. They should have it on tv and magazines. Also on youtube web page.
well i think it will be very convenient because you have to think of those people who dont have cable. but probably have internet connection. This will help in alot of ways because now the company youtube will be getting more views to there website. Also, the target market i think would be people that have nothing to do with their lives and so they go on the internet to make up for it.

Youtube is trying to become more successful by playing more live sports content. Last year they announced that they would start streaming live-streaming Indian Premier League cricket matches, which had a pretty good turn out. By Google and Youtube working on this together, they can bring a lot with their ad revenue. Youtube has been becoming a lot more popular recently and this will only help more. I feel that streaming new stuff is important to keep people interested, but I also think it is important to keep Youtube original.

But I also think it is very important to keep Youtube original. I would definitely advertise this on the website itself and on sports channels. Its important to reach out to sports fans and exsisting Youtube account holders. With all of this I believe it could easily become a success.

They want viewers that are interested in different things, they want to become a more serious entertainment hub, there will be different sports to watch like criket and youtube said they were in talks with the NBA and NHL, also Google and Youtube would get wildly promoted, Youtube also now uses Widevine which is an on-demand video search. I think the most inportant one is that Youtube and Google would get extremely promoted because everyone from the teenagers that like to upload videos, and the people that would go on to watch their sports.
