Good morning. We recently completed a unit on product and product development. The bicycle manufacturing business has always been popular in the sports and recreation industry. Many styles and sizes of bikes for all ages and interests are available. After watching the video, in a 2 paragraph response (a minimum of 5 sentences for each paragraph), answer the following questions. In paragraph # 1, summarize the video in 5 main points. List and explain each. Be specific with your thoughts. In paragraph # 2, discuss which one of the 5 main points you listed you feel has the most impact on the "bicycle business" and why? The video was basically talking about how they make all types of bicycles. They all have different meanings to them and how they thought of the bicycles. They talked about how they were made. How they test them out to see if they’ll b good for the costumer that buys it next. They talked all about bicycles.
ReplyDeleteThe most important thing is making sure the bicycle works. Make sure everything comes out correctly! The hard thing about the bicycle company is making sure they sell and work because many people have cars now and is not thinking about bicycles and where they are made.
this video is talking about making newer and better bikes for everyone.they say that they try to make lighter bikes.they make 4000 bikes a week.they aslo say that the stronger the bike the better it is.the bike is made of two triangles. and they try to make it faster by making it lighter.they couldnt make a bike with other shapes like triangle or other shapes they need circle.

GT bicycles tries to make the highest quality bikes. He says they make bikes to be safe, lightweight and fun to ride. He explains that tires are circular because circles are strong and roll better than any other geometric shape. He explains that the bikes bodies are relatively simple and aerodynamic. The worker really enjoys what he does.
ReplyDeleteI think the wheels are the most important part in the bycicle industry. The wheels need to have good traction. To have good traction they cannot sacrifice their circular shape. Bike companies work hard to have tires with the best traction, that still turn well. Tires are what give cyclists the edge, tires are what keep the bike moving in a forward direction, they are the most important part of a bike.

ReplyDeletein this video the main point was to talk about how GT builds their bikes. bikes have two main shapes which are triangles and circles. because without circles the bike cant move smoothly. also after creating a bike they like to build better, faster, and stronger bikes. also they test all their bikes to make sure that they are safe and ready for the costumers to purchase them.

i think that the most important thing is to make sure that the bicycles are safe and that they work. if the bicycles are not safe then people will get injuried and bikes will stopped being purchased. also they need to make sure the bikes work and dont fall apart after a few months. because when some one puts a couple hundred dollars into a bike they want it to last for a while. those are my thoughts on the bicycle video.

The 5 main points to me are thinking, analyzing, creativity, math, and diversity. You have to think and be intelligent for you to be able to create a powerful bicycle. There are many aspects and fundamentals to a bicycle that need to be acknowledged. With a good level of thinking/intelligence, you can achieve the needs of a bicycle. The second point is analyzing, you need to think and analyze what type of bikes people prefer and the type of bikes that people dislike. The third point is creativity, you have to be creative. Your bike design has to look presentable and attractive to the customers’ eye. You don’t want your bike to look like every other bike in the store; you want it to look unique. The fourth point is the math, with math; you have to calculate the height of the wheels, the width between the handlebars…etc. If you don’t calculate the math correctly, then your plan and your bike have failed as a whole. The last main point is diversity, if you’re a company that makes bikes. Make all of your bikes different types of bikes!
ReplyDeleteI think the most important point is the thinking. It takes a powerful mind to create a successful product. Once you have your ideas together, then the rest of the points come easy for you. If you’re not taking the time to patiently think, then people are not going to take the time to even lay their eyes on your product, and after all this, who gets hurt? You. So you have to be very thoughtful and intelligent so your product can be a success.

The biggest challenge is making sure that the person riding the bicycle isn't to big or too small and also that the company actually sells the product because most people these days have cars for transportation.

ReplyDeleteI feel like the most important thing is how the bike looks and weighs. They show how they make aerodynamic bikes. That is very important because the bikes need to be aerodynamic in order to sell to the consumers. They also need to look nice, so the company makes sure they have nice paint and texture on the bike. They also display their logo on the bike. I think the biggest challenge is coming up with something new and cool. We've seen plenty of bikes over the years that look the same, so designers want to come up with new designs to please their customers. Designers also need to make improvements on already great bikes. That is also a very big challenge designers face.

It talks alot of thought to come out with new ideas for bicycles since many have already been put in place. The main goal is to make a bike faster ,lighter, and work properly. The biggest challange would be trying to appeal to everyone even if they have a car. Alot of people may reject a bike since they have a car but marketing well may change there opion. A good example would be to advertise them as fun and you can get a workout. Cars are the biggest challenge to overcome with bikes but if you can get passes that then they should sell.

The light bicycles are for people who make a lot of movements and tricks with the bikes. The heavier bikes are for anyone who go out bike riding. The video we watched now was about bicycles. It showed how they are made and what the logic behind them is. It also showed why they use the shapes they use. Lastly it shows what is most important when trying to make a bike. That was what the video was basically about.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that has the most impact on the bussiness is coming up with new ideas. I think that is the biggest challenge for the bicycle creators. Since all bikes basically look the same, creators need to come up with some new ideas to make bikes look better, and have a different design. If the do that, there bike will probably sell more. That is my opinion.

People dont ride bikes as much as they used to because of the new technology and what other people can use to get around. But some people still do for for fun. ReplyDeleteI think that the most important point is to build. The way that this designer was working was with a specific model that later turn out to work in a race. This has started from the very basic and then develops later on. It will also lead to some challenges that designers have today that include the structure of the bicycle. Some people just don’t want to buy bicycles anymore because they’re just uncomfortable to ride them. So in my opinion the shape, the performance and the materials is important for the success of the market.

ReplyDeleteA important thing about making and manufacturing bikes is how to get them to sell. Ibn order to get them to sell they have to meet the standards of bike enthusiests. A way to do that is to make a very nice bike that the pros use and people will see that a pro is using it and will understand the quality of the bike. The bicicle industry is probably hard because most only buy a bike every 4 years or so so marketing is very important because otherwise you wont make any money.

There is no other thrill than that of watching something you produced, being successful to a degree that professionals admire your product and use your product to win. Professional bicycle developers, Forrest Yelverton and Jorge Valencia, develop their products based on exquisite performance as well as extreme reliability. The science of math is rather complex than perceived. The right shapes and right diaphragm all rely on certain critical mathematical designs and scientific proportions. Hence the correct shape for the wheels is obviously a circle.

They make the shapes of the diaphragm narrow and thin so they could travel faster on them. All the science behind this is critical to making and engineering a perfect bike.
The video discussed the five main points that were diversity, appeal, function, math and creativity. A different bike that can be used for a wide variety will appeal to customers. The way the bike looks and works will appeal to the customer. The function of the bike needs to remain with the same focus, while enhancing a better or new function each time. Math was involved in this video like the wheel, and how it needs to ride smooth, the width and height of things, and how it all adds up to function correctly as one single bike. Creativity is always an important factor when trying to sell anything, and with a bike it’s important that you make it look good and has a lot of great features in it so it is unique.
ReplyDeleteI think the most important is diversity for bikes. Because all of them will pretty much do the same thing, so if you make it diverse it will catch the customer’s eye. Either by the design or the features the bike can be diverse. If the bike is diverse and it appeals to the customer, and the customer thinks it’s unique, the customer is most likely to buy it. Since most people worry about the price of things, if customers think the bike is unique then they feel it’s a good deal and would buy it.
