Have I Got a Show for You...
By Neil Genzingler, NY Times
The genre started as a mix of the moderately silly and the formulaic: survivalist competitions for people willing to eat insects; on-the-job series that followed police officers or ambulance crews. But as the phenomenon expanded to fill cable’s endless maw, things grew both weirder and more ordinary. On the weird end of the spectrum there were suddenly shows about pathological hoarders and people eaten by their own pets.

My favorite ideas are paper or plastic, wheres whoopis oscar, and lanst man mowing. These are good ideas. I like the paper or plastic because it seems like it would be a good show. Last man mowing also seems like a good show. The show with whoopi seems funny and people like to watch funny shows.
ReplyDeleteI think the paper and plastic would be the best idea. It is creative and there are no shows out there like that. It also looks like it can have some drama in it. They dont really have to do anything special to promote it. I think that it is goin to be very good.

I like extreme couponing, last man mowing and gigolos. These are definitely good ideas. Last man mowing is a good idea because people can relate to the struggles of owning a business. I think the show gigolos will be good because people love entertaining stuff like that, a lot of people will watch it. Also the show extreme couponing is a good idea because people can learn how to save by using coupons by watchin this show.
ReplyDeleteThe demographic is mainly for young adults but it doesn't exclude anyone. The demographic is whoever wants to watch the show. If you advertise a lot, this will give it a huge chance to succeed. Also if you have a celebrity promoting it or a celebrity on the show then it will be successful. Also if its clever enough then it will be a success.

After looking at the list of shows makers are using to support reality tv, I found it rather hard to pick 3 ideas that I think are the best. When it comes down to it, I think living in silence is something they could get me to watch. If I sat with that on, I feel it could keep my interest in oppose to the others. Extreme makeover punk'd edition sounds kind of interesting, while I don't think I would choose to watch something like it. It's just one of those shows that I feel can keep my attention anxiously waiting to see the reaction of the consumer on screen. Where's Whoopi's oscar already sounds like a success in my book, just because makers have found something that can so easily appeal to viewers in america.
ReplyDeleteWhere's Whoopi's oscar has the best chance of attracting viewers because the audience wants to see famous celebrity's in a view that most appeals to them. When they can compare their daily life to the life of a celebrity with the thrill of what the show presents, makers are really getting the job done. This show seems that it would attract to mostly women from ages 21-45 even. Just like sit at home mom's become interested in television shows concerning celebrities that experience conflict. The thrill that comes with the show in an act that brings fame to fatigue really gets the viewer involved.
My 3 favorite of the ideas are: gigolos, living the silence, and where's whoopie's oscars. I like gigolos because, for a guy, it is kind of entertaining to watch how 'pros' get with women. It also seems kind of funny which will get many views. Living the silence seems pretty interesting in that no one can talk but soon enough someone will talk or force others to. Where's whoopie's oscar seems like a funny show since he can put the oscar anywhere and they way people react is something funny.
ReplyDeleteI think where's whoopie's oscar maybe the best idea for many reasons. First of all it's real life events so watching how actual people react, to finding the oscar, is kind of funny. People nowdays seem to care about dumb funny shows just because it's good entertainment. The demographic would be for everyone so anyone can enjoy it. It'll be kinda like the show Punk'd which was very popular in its time.
i liked last man mowing, paper or plastic, gigolos. they seem really interesting to me and i think that other people would like them to. last man mowing is about owning a business and i think that some business owners can relate to something like that. paper or plastic cbe something that would catch could probably catch peoples eyes. Gigolos seems like a funny show and people like funny.
ReplyDeletedemographic is towards everyone i dont think that they left anyone out of their target rage.A demographic is to the people who watch the shows. i think that it could be really succesful
if they had someone who everyone knew. someone like a comedian or some type of superstar. that would make all of these shows succesful.

The best television show idea is Gigolos because its something new but doesn’t stray too far away from modern television shows. A show about male escorts is quite humorous and I think a lot of people will catch on. A major problem this show faces is the topic on which the show focuses on is very mature and may be uncomfortable to most people. Extreme Maker Punk’d edition is a bad idea feel, first of all making fun of a very intimate show which changes peoples life is not something to joke around on. Even though it might get high ratings for the first show it won’t last in the long run, based on how just sad that they make fun of a show that people care about because it changes their lives. Paper or Plastic is another show that I feel will run out of ideas quick and be canceled quickly. Though these are the type of reality show people may want to watch all of these show ideas to me are horrible and don’t have all the essentials of a successful television show.
ReplyDeleteEven though most of these ideas lack the features of a successful show, Extreme Couponing is the best of the group with Gigolos following right behind. With the economy in the shape it’s in right now Americans are always looking for different ways to save. A show about people who are super savers will interest most adults who have family, ages 25 and up, both males and females. The target audience is obviously the average American who is in debt, which is why this show will last because until the economy gets better they will need new ideas on how to save. If the show can come up with new ways to make each episode different and keep viewers interested the chances of being successful is good.

All of these ideas that they came up with is excellent. My favorite one was the man mowing and the paper and plastic. The man mowing would be a great show because there is entertainment relating to this idea. People today love comdey, including myself. There were some other good ideas but the ones I explained was the best. For example, the whoopi one seemed kind of interesting to me.
ReplyDeleteI think the paper and plastic show will become successful and attract the most viewers. This show will attract the young viewers and the adults too. That's why I believe that this show will be a successful show. I also believe that they should do something to promote this show to become successful.

My top three ideas for shows are Extreme Makeover Punkd Edition, Coach Swap, and Wheres Whoopis Oscar. All three are great ideas. I like the first one because i would love to watch the reactions of the contestants because it would be funny. Coach Swap soounds good too because its the same thing as Wife Swap, only funnier and better. And Wheres whoopis Oscar would be hiliarious to watch when people see the oscar and look confused.
ReplyDeleteI think Coach Swap would be the most succesful. Its already riding on the backbone of Wife Swap, another wildly succesful series. It would target all age groups, because all would be involved in the story. It will also ride on the back of the sports families, because its a sports show.
my three favorites are extreme cuponing, extreme makeover punkd addition, and mounted in alaska i like extreme cuponing because it is interesting how people can buy so much stuff for so little money. ji like extreme makeover becuase i think it would be funny but it also would be kinda cruel. i like mounted in alaska because it shows how taxidermists can preserve the looks of animals that outdoorsman have killed. all of these would be popular but the demographics will vary widely.
ReplyDeleteWild in alaska will attract many people. people who like the outdoors will like the show. this show will be marketed to men and women who live in the country and like to hunt and fish. thisnwill aply to ages 10 to 90+. many peoplelove to be outdoors and be in nature, and like to have a sovenier or trophy from their catch or kill.

ReplyDeleteI think the best television show idea is Gigolos. But i think Extreme Maker Punk’d edition is a bad idea feel, first of all making fun of a very intimate show which changes peoples life is not something to joke around on. My favorite show idea is Paper or Plastic. It brings Supermarket bagging into the sports and competition world. They made the main character also the hero run into a problem and now the viewers must see how she reacts to the situation. My second favorite is Extreme Makeover Punk’d Edition. That would be a very funny show to see. The faces of the families would be priceless. The only problem is that after the families are punk’d they should then really get a home makeover like they thought they were to receive. Last but no least would be Where’s Whoopi’s Oscar? I have seen a few of the movies she was in and she is a great actor. I guess it would be funny to see people talk about her acting.
ReplyDeleteI believe Extreme Couponing would have the most success. Everyone would love to know where and how to find the things they want for an extremely lower price. Who wouldn’t want to save their hard earned money? The demographic would probably consist of all ages, both sex, and mainly people focusing on ways to wisely spend their money. Their chance of success is the best because like I said, everyone wants to find out how to save money and still get the things they want.

Where's Whoopi's Oscar, Gigolos, and Living The Silence sound the most entertaining to me. I like Where's Whoopi's Oscar because it would be funny to see peoples reactions when they find an oscar. Gigolos sounds interesting because it would be kind of like Jersey Shore except they'd be gigolos. Living The Silence would be funny because they'd be trying to get each other to talk. It could get boring though if nobody's doing anything.
ReplyDeleteThe show i think would do the best is Extreme Couponing because a lot of people would watch it. Everybody wants to know how to save money in extreme ways. The people that would watch this are adults with families because they spend a lot of money. It would be successful because people like to watchh dumb stuff like this. I know my mom would probably love this show and a lot of other people would too.

My 3 top choices I decided to choose was the paper or plastic, where’s whoopi’s car and last man mowing. I chose them because the title just caught my interest when I looked at it, I like each show idea because it’s a challenge for each one its not easy like the other I’ve seen up there posted. I also like it because I would join the it myself that’s why it catches my attention
ReplyDeleteThe one I think has the best chance to get more publicity and rating is the pregnant one. I say that because more people will watch the show all because of a pregnant lady trying to see what the deal. And what going on. How she will do the challenges and so forth.

My top 3 favorite show idea are Coach Swap, Living the Silence, and Gigolos. I chose these three ideas because they are smiliar to shows that have been popular in the past but have a new twist to them. Each show brings in a different type of audience as well, bringing in an overall higher TV audience. All of the shows would for sure be interesting to watch.
ReplyDeleteI think the Gigolo TV show would bring in the most attention. Why? Because viewers see everyady guys that they can relate too, but they have an interesting twist; they are Gigolos. I think it would target more of a young adult and adult crowd. It would be interesting to see people live two seperate lives.
