Tim Tebow joins Twitter, Facebook as part of new marketing push

Four days before his first NFL regular season game, Tim Tebow is now on Twitter.

The popular rookie Denver Broncos QB launched a Twitter account and a new website -- TimTebow.com -- on Wednesday. Tebow, who also started a Facebook page, drew thousands of followers in just a few hours after joining Twitter.

His first tweet:

"Thanks for all the years of support - I'm really excited about being able to keep in touch with all of you on twitter and facebook"

The launching of the social media platforms is part of a coordinated unveiling of a new company -- XV Enterprises -- that will manage Tebow's marketing interests. XV Enterprises (Tebow's uniform number is 15) is run by Tebow's brother, Robby Tebow, and friend Angel Gonzalez, CNBC reported.

  1. Tim Tebow has been successful in his football career and his new twitter account will just make I t better. This account will get him more publicity so more people will look up to him. As a quarterback he has to be one of the leaders on his team so being able to stay connected with his fan will just boost his moral.

I think that athletes and entertainers have the right to have a social network just like anyone else. Social networking is just free publicity so it can help but it also can hurt. Connection to the outside world is important to connect to everyone that supports you. Also new products that an athlete has come out with can be advertised on there site

  2. Tim Tebow, rising NFL football star for the Denver Broncos, has recently just signed up for a twitter account. This will give him a lot more publicity and open to the United States so more companies will be able to see him. While it has many positive effects for him, it also has negative effects too. Some people can bring him down on twitter too, because he isn’t liked by all. Some people have high doubts in him making it in the NFL. So, it’s a choicy call by Tebow to sign onto Twitter, but so far its going well for him.
In my opinion, Facebook is great. I love being able to socialize with my friends and family on facebook because its fun they way Facebook does it. Twitter on the other hand, I’m not that much of a fan of. I already spent a lot of time on Fcebook so I don’t need to spend more on Twitter which is a lot like Facebook. Now in the eyes of athletes, they might think different because all there fans can know what they’ve been doing and important news. Some can get overwhelmed with it though and have it get out of control. So it can benefit them but also hurt them.

  3. Having Tim Tebow have a twitter and a facebook can be a positive and negative effect. The positivie effect can be that the fans can see him be out there for them. They can also see how he really is and his personality. The negative effect can be that they may see Twitter and Facebook a distraction. If he starts a game and he doesn't do well than their going to critize him. If he spends too much time on the web instead on the field than it can be a distraction.

Having athletes have facebook and Twitter can be a benefit to them. If their trying to do an Advertisment, they will have success in doing it. If they add them on facebook or Twitter and start talking to them, their going to start like the athlete and they're going to buy their product. It's a benefit to facebook and twitter because more and more people are going to use facebook or twitter or maybe both. I think facebook or twitter likes that athlete use there web account because it gets their popularity.

  4. Tim Tebow the new rookie QB for the Denver Broncos has recently signed in to Twitter with his new account. With many potential endorsements for Tebow his Twitter account may cause problems for him in the future. Put it into this scenario, Tim has a great game and is feeling extremely cocky, he signs on to Twitter and begins to boast about how amazing he thinks he is. This could potentially ruin a chance atjoining endorsement for him and cause him to lose reputation within the community. There is no problem with him joining Twitter but he needs to be to control himself and be able to just converse with all of his fans.

Facebook and Twitter are extremely helpful to many organizations and players. These online sites have much potential for helping a player and their endorsements. It gives players and fans to connect on a new level and allow them share ideas and thoughts which can help an athlete with his image in the sports world. This benefits everyone because the players have the chance to show off a personality and become more fan friendly and get more possible endorsements when he is wanted.

  5. Tim Tebow on Twitter

Tim Tebow is now on Twitter. He is now one of the millions of people who joined the social network giants, Twitter and Facebook. His first “tweet” was a thank-you message to the fans that supported him during his years as the quarterback for the Florida Gators collegiate football team up until his recent entry in the 2010 NFL Draft, saying, “Thanks for all the years of support - I'm really excited about being able to keep in touch with all of you on Twitter and Facebook.” Tebow’s brother Robby Tebow and friend Angel Gonzales run a company, XV Enterprises, to market Tebow.

I feel personally that any non-negative publicity, such as Tebow’s entry into the social network, is positive in it’s effect to the players image and marketability. It also brings Tebow closer to his fans who can simply post a congratulatory message on his site. It is a win-win scenario for Tebow and the many athletes who use Twitter and Facebook. This is a good thing for all to be able to connect with millions of other people.

  6. There are many athletes that have endorsement opportunities. But I think one athlete that has an immense amount of potential for endorsements is Bryce Harper. Bryce Harper is the newest upcoming athlete that is known as “the chosen one” or the “LeBron James of Baseball”. He is the biggest prospect in baseball he is becoming the second high school baseball player to ever be on the cover of sports illustrated and one of the few who came straight out of high school. The account created by Tim Tebow can have a positive effect on him because people are able to see exactly who he is and put him in a more friendly view to the population. It can also have a negative effect because there is bad press in everything and I know that everything he tweets will be viewed by the press just looking for something they can catch him on.
For a fact I know that there are many athletes and celebrities in general that have twitter or facebook pages. They can use these things for a few things. One they can use it for a way to reach out to their fan base. Whether it is something like a place where they will be signing autographs on a specific day or even what they think about how their fans have been. I know LeBron James has a twitter account and occasionally he will tweet things about how South Beach is, how he likes it, and how everyone is treating him. Also everyday you can see on ESPN or sports entertainment channels like that, players putting their reactions to specific things on twitter. Some people will write about how their team is looking while others write about what they dislike about the team or things of that sort.

  7. Twitter and Facebook are great ways to stay in touch with people. For Tim Tebow, its a good way to keep his fans informed on his condition and to get some good publicity while hes at it. Along with good publicity always comes the chance of bad publicity.

Social networking and media are probably the newest form of endorsing yourself and others. It can benefit people like Tebow by giving him some time to connect with his fans and read what their opinions on his desicions are.

  8. Tim tebow's social network could have both a positive and negative on his endorsements. It could have a positive affect because, he could use the account to let his fans know what new products or ideas they are coming out with. It could have a negative affect because, if say after a game he decides to let his thoughts out about the other team, he could use his facebook or twitter account to vent his anger. This kind of thing could go both ways depending on the person. But I believe that tim tebow can handle himself.
I think that social networks like twitter and facebook can be a good and bad thing. I think it all depends on the person that owns the account, and it all depends on how that person is feeling at that time. But it can also be a good thing for players and their companies. Companies can use twitter and facebook to their advantage, by letting their friends and followers know about their upcoming events, and new products.

  9. For a professional athlete is very important to be in contact with your fans. And one of the best ways of doing that is through tweeter, facebook and your own website. Have a tweeter and facebook account can give you a lot of endorsement deals because a lot of people who you are. That is good to for the company because many people will be thinking about that product and when they see it at the store they might buy it. Having a tweeter and facebook account can have a positive effect on his image if he does not say something that you might not say in front of the camera.

Having a tweeter account can be improve or destroy Tim Tebow’s career because if he starts saying something that you wouldn’t say anywhere else people are going to start to dislike him and not pay attention to what he does. That will close him a lot of endorsement deals with big time companies like Nike, Reebok or Gatorade. Social Media has a big effect on today’s athletes because everybody follows them whether is on tweeter or facebook. They have to be careful on what they do or say because that will destroy their image and maybe their entire careers.

  10. Payton Manning was sign with Gatorade. With Tim Tebow being on twitter and facebook it shows how many people are following him. So if a company tries to sign with Tim Tebow then what ever he sign with might get a big increase in their products because so many people follow Tim Tebow. So that is a positive effect that Tim Tebow has from twitter and facebook. A negative effect that he could have would be if he did something wrong that gets him in trouble. So how come so many people follow Tim Tebow and if someone posts something on his wall or page all those people following him will see what he did.
Facebook and Twitter are worldwide marketing that basically everyone uses. So if an athlete creates a Twitter account or Facebook account a lot of people would want to be there friends. So if a marketing business pays some of the athletes to post something on their wall or blog all those people would see that and would probably buy those products. So that’s how companies could athletes to their benefits.

  11. I think that it is a good idea that Tim Tebow got a Twitter. This can open up many new opportunities for him. For example he may be able to get more fans on Twitter. And by gaining more fans he may get more endorsement opportunities. More companies will want him to support their product if he has a lot of fans.
I think that social media networks like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace have been a curse and a blessing. They make it possible to connect with friends all over the globe. On the negative side it is a chance for online hackers to gain personal information from other people. By just revealing your birthday and hometown a hacker could steal your identity. That is why social networks are a curse and a blessing.

  12. Tim Tebow made his first twitter and facebook accounts! To a surprise he has thousands of followers in just a few hours. This can help him become more popular with companies and brands so thus this is a good thing for him. He has many people supporting him and many new potential followers. Companies now know that if they endorse Tobow with their products that they are sure to sell big by the number of followers he has. Being on a social media can potentially help and or hurt Tebow. It is possible that it can be negative because sometimes people post things on their account that get them fined and or arrested. Being able to communicate with your supporters is a big upside because then you can make it big. Thus that is my final blog

  13. As Tim Tebow made his twitter account, he had thousands of followers after a few hours. This makes him look good to potential endorsements companies and brands. They see him as someone who has many people supporting him, a fan favorite and an important person. For potential endorsement companies, they know that if they advertise a product with Tim Tebow, many of his followers would then be interested in the product. There is also a downside to him making his twitter account. NFL players, who have a twitter account, tend to post things on their account that gets them fined by the NFL. Being able to communicate with your supporters, online, with your own opinion, may lead players to say inappropriate things. There are upsides to Tebow making these accounts but there’s also a downside.

Social Media outlets like Twitter and Facebook relate to athletes, entertainers, and sports and entertainment organizations because all of these people, sports and organizations have a Twitter and a Facebook. They sign up for one so their supporters can see new updates on them every day. These accounts are also used to show what a new company, sport or athlete is doing to improve themselves or organization. These accounts are also good for promoting a product. For example, if a soccer athlete shoes off his new shoes on his Facebook picture, many supporters of the athlete would want to look into the shoe to try and buy it.

  14. I think Facebook and Twitter will help Tim Tebow. I this is will help him grow his fan base and show then he cares about his fans. This will greatly impact his image as a football player. It will also tell companies how many people like him. This will possibly give him more endorsement opportunities. Facebook and twitter has become a great marketing tool for famous people.
Facebook and Twitter haven become great tools to advertise business. Almost very business has a Facebook page and you see signs everywhere to follow them. Making a Facebook page or twitter page is basically free advertisement. This has made business more known and the business more profit.

  15. I believe that Tim Tebow joining Twitter is very good for him. This will make it so that everyone that is a huge Broncos fan can now follow their star QB on Twitter, and check out hit website. This is also a good way for him to tell people what’s going on, how he’s doing, how the games went, etc. People who missed last night’s game will be able to go check it out, of if they think he’s injured, go see what he has to say about it. This is a great way to update the public about everything related to Tim Tebow and the Broncos.
Also, people could see what he does in his every day life. By looking at what he tweets about, you could find out what his favorite restaurant is, favorite food, favorite color, etc. This could have either a huge positive or negative effect on his career. If he writes stuff that everyone likes, and says stuff that the people want to hear, then this will all be okay. If he says stuff that would have a negative impact on the community, then this could deeply hurt his career. For instance, is he said something like the state of Virginia sucks, then this could make everyone from this state hate him. Just like every celebrity, if he makes one mistake on his Twitter, then people will think negatively of him for quite a while.

  16. I think Tim Tebow will have a lot of fans and plenty of endorsements in other things. It also depends how Tebow talks on twitter, if it will give him a positive or negative audience. Also that could mess up how he gets his benefits like Nike, Gatorade. I think that it is good that athletes have twitter and facebook because it will help them to become a big star if they aren't one already. They could also use things like twitter and facebook to advertise there items. Also they could use it to show people there videos, highlights and other things. They can also just use it like everyone else and just make friends and talk to people.

  17. Tim Tebow is connecting to the digital age. By connecting to the digital age, he also connected to his millions of fans and followers. This is a great move on his part, and other athletes would benefit from following him. Many online companies may now seek him out and attempt to sponsor him in order to boost their own image. People may see him as similar to themselves because he too is using the internet in a similar way to many people. It will definately help him connect to his fans.

I think Facebook and Twitter are great tools for famous people. It helps them connect to their fans, like I said before. By being in touch with their fans, they can quickly hype up new things that the fans should know about. For example, a musician can quickly spread the information about a new album release by posting it on a facebook status. A football player can discuss moving to another team with his fans and see how they feel about it. The possibilities are endless.

  18. I think that Tim Tebow can now have more fans from having twitter and facebook. Not only that but there's opportunities out there for him to have now for example Nike, Gatorade, under armor and others will offer him to do a commercial or wear their product for money. All of the product's also have facebook and twitter so they can easily see whatever he puts on his page. I personally think its a good thing but once he says something that he shouldn't say people will think different of him. If he ever would to do that then definitely the products most likely wouldn't want him wearing, talking, or in their commercials anymore.

Now that Tim Tebow has twitter and facebook and soon having products coming to him for job offers its going to make him more famous. He will be on posters,TV,magazines, and many more places. But it happens to everyone in the entertainment once you miss up its hard to get your popularity and fans back. Not everybody likes Tim Tebow but maybe he will get more fans by having twitter and facebook and soon getting job offers while playing is football season and also when football season is done.

  19. One athlete that would have many endorsement opportunities later in life is Denard Robinson. This star athlete at the University of Michigan is only a freshman and is already breaking school records. Tim Tebow's new use on facebook and twitter are good for marketability. It will cause more fans to follow him. He can control what he puts on facebook and twitter. This if used in the correct fashion will have a positive effect on Tim Tebow’s image. Tim Tebow could use his facebook and twitter and have a bad impact on his image. If he were to talk bad about his fellow teammates or maybe curse on one of these two social networks, millions would see it and it would ruin his image.
Social networks can be good and bad for athletes to use. These social networks provide a way for the athlete to communicate with the fan, but these social networks can also have a negative affect if the athlete misuses the account or perhaps complains about his teammates. If the right things are said in posts and the athlete displays gratitude towards his or her fans the account can be great for public relations purposes.

  20. Tim Tebow's Twitter and Facebook account can have a positive effect, becuase I alot of his fans will be following him just to see what he is doing or what he is up too. They also can see that he is there for them, if they ever needed Tim on there side. Now there can also be a negative effect, because some fans can see his accounts as a type of way to not get involed with the team and might hurtt his career. They might think that , if Tim always post new tweets or statuses they might think he's not doing anything with team and might hurt his fan base.

Titter and Facebook accounts can help athletes, entertainers, and sports and entertainment organizations, in the way of making people feel connected to there organization or athletes. These social media networks can really be helpful to athletes or entertainers, becuase it can get them more fans or a bigger fan-base.These networks can also have negative effects, because some people might think its to much and athletes or entertainers can be distracted from all of this. It might even hurt there fan-base and might lose all there fans.

  21. Tebow is becoming more social. He is doing this by making a facebook, myspace and twitter. More and more people are hearing about him so they are looking him up and such. With people looking him up this will gain him publicity.

I think this is smart. I think Tebow will get alot more fans and become so much more social. If Tebow does this it will help his career alot.

  22. I feel like Tim Tebow having a twitter account can either be a good thing, or it can be a bad thing. Tebow is a very influential idol to many people. As long as his tweets are appropriate and encouraging, I feel like he can have really great influence on his fans. It’s also a great opportunity for his endorsements because he can tweet saying he’s drinking a product he endorses or he’s wearing a certain clothing line or brand he endorses as well. Knowing this, his fans will soon want to be just like Tebow and purchase whatever he has. Tebow’s really religious, so I feel like from time to time he will tweet about something religious and that gives him a really good image. All in all, I think it does more good than bad for someone like Tebow to have a twitter, facebook, or any social network.
Today, most people have a twitter or facebook account. As I previously stated, these are perfect opportunities for businesses to advertise and endorse their products through athlete’s, entertainers, or any famous person with great influence for that matter. Most people are on the web nowadays, whether it’s on their computers or smart-phones, we all check up on facebook or twitter. As our way of communicating and entertainment advances technologically, so do endorsement strategies. We don’t necessarily have to be behind a TV screen to see commercials advertising a product, and businesses know this. They know such things as facebook and twitter can be checked pretty much anywhere as long as you have internet access on your phone or smartphone.

  23. Tim Tebow being on facebook and twitter can either be both a postive and negative thing. It can be a good thing because using facebook and twitter is a great way to connect with your fan-base and to gain the love of millions of other fans. Facebook and twitter can be bad thing because it could take a significant amount of time away from practicing and getting better. You also have to monitor exactly everything you say to keep the support of fans. The effects of facebook and twitter for Tim Tebow goes both ways.

Facebook and twitter is a great way for professional athletes to market themselves. However, with the pros the cons are that athletes must make shure that social networking doesn't become a major distraction because that might casue a lack of performance in he games. Other than that I think social networking is a good idea for professional athletes. It's a great way to become favored by fans. Although athletes must becareful about their emotions and what the post online because fans might misinterperet it.
