This past year the New York Yankees won the World Series. This was very exciting for me because they are my favorite baseball team. While watching the Series I was nervous because they made it that far and to lose would be very heart breaking. When they won I was so happy. My mom went up to New York for a business trip and got me a hat that said 2009 World Series champions.
ReplyDeleteI am in this class because I am fascinated with advertisement and marketing. In the future I hope to study business and marketing. This would be a fun and exciting career. Both entertainment and sports would be fun areas to work in. I look forward to being in this class.

A sport even that has had an effect on my life was the Indoor National Track meet in New York City last January. It was a great learning experience as well as a fun time. I started the indoor season as just the average track athlete, yeah I won some races, and yeah I knew I would make districts but never in a million years did I think I would be competing with the best runners in the United States. When I got to the meet I realized how surreal it really was. I also got really nervous with the fact that these people have probably been running all their lives and I have only been running for a couple of months. This meet impacted my life because I realized that track was something that I am really good at and I can possible have a future in the sport. Now I am looking forward for my senior year and having colleges look and maybe even recruit me to their team.
ReplyDeleteI am down in the department of marketing mainly to learn. I currently would like to go to the University of Pennsylvania to major in Mass Communications and Public Relations. I feel like this class can help me get a start and a feel for the Marketing portion that will come with the profession. I chose Sports marketing because I feel that since I am good at a sport and since I didn’t really want to take Fashion Marketing then this was the class for me. All my family has been in the Marketing and Entertainment business. So that also sparked an interest in the department.

This past wrestling season was a great season for me. I had a recored of 46 wins and 12 losses. I placed in a lot of tournaments including Regionals which is a pretty big tournament. In placed 7th and Regionals and was 3 places away from going to States. This year i'm setting a goal to place 4th or higher in Regionals and make it to States.
ReplyDeleteThe reason i'm in this class is because i'm really into sports, i'm and athletic person. Also, for the entertainment part, i really like music. After i'm done with this class, i hope to know a lot more about how sports advertise. I also want to learn how sports teams make all there money other then advertising. I hope i enjoy my time in this class because it seemed interesting and fun to me.

During the past year while playing on the varsity lacrosse team, we played Hayfield during our regular season. Although Mt. Vernon is considered our official rival, we consider Hayfield to be one as well. Both teams really wanted to win and not accept defeat, it was a close game but we could not get it together. We went on to lose 11-7, we were all devastated. Later n in the season we went on to face them for the first round of districts, this game was important to us. We worked a lot and had faith in our team. Work pays off, we beat them in the final seconds and it was the best feeling. Our supporters/fans ran onto the field with us to celebrate our win. It affected my life because it proves that if you really want something, and you work for it, you’ll achieve it.
ReplyDeleteI enrolled in Sports& Ent. Marketing because although I want to major in engineering, at some point in my life I want to get a minor in business. This class might help me understand more about business. I also enrolled in it because I really like sports, and feel like this class would be really fun. I also want to be in DECA, as it will give me even more insight on business and it looks really good for college. I hope to get a lot out of this class, and have a lot of fun.

One recent sports related event that had a profound effect on my life was Super Bowl. I am a diehard Colts, and Peyton Manning fan. I was really sure that we were going to win that game because we had the better team. We were the favorites; we were supposed to win that game. But things didn’t go the way I and many people in Indy expected. I got over it and now I’m ready for the new season and hopefully another Super Bowl trip, but this time we will win it.
ReplyDeleteI enrolled in sports marketing for many reasons. One of them is that I love sports. I watch almost every single sport, football, baseball, hockey, soccer etc. Another reason is because many of my friends enrolled in sports marketing. Also sports marketing sounds really cool.

This summer there has been one event that has had a profound impact on my life. It was the Chicago Cubs game that I went to this July. It wasn’t just a Cubs game at Nationals Park but a Cubs game at the famous Wrigley field. Well I was affected in a few ways. One was the whole way and style that the stadium is. People that live where we do are used to the nice, new, Nationals Park. But when I saw the Cubs stadium it was so different than anything. The stadium was so old school that watching their games on TV couldn’t even do it justice. Also the playing environment had a big affect on me. I have been playing baseball since before I could remember. I love the sport and I love playing it and going to that game just opened my eyes to the different kinds of baseball environments and how good their fans are and how big some crowds and fan bases can get. So this event really opened my eyes.
ReplyDeleteI enrolled in sports marketing mainly just because the name appeals me. “Sports marketing” I mean I love all sports so I’m pretty sure I’d love this class. Also I have heard many other people in the school talk about this class. I heard people say that the class is very easy and much laid back. That is always a plus. Also I have heard from students that Mr. Bodner is a good teacher and makes the class even better. So when I added those things together, I really couldn’t find a class that sounded any better to take.
The weekend before school started, my soccer team had a major tournament. Before it started, we were ranked 8th in VA, 33rd in Region and 130th in the USA. We finished semi-finals in the tournament, and thought we didn’t get any points for doing so poorly. On Wednesday, September 8th, we realized that we actually got 1,700 points. This put us in 7th in VA, 20th in Region and 77th in the USA. This affected me because now our team is actually ranked at a decent rank in the country, even though we should be much higher then we already are.
ReplyDeleteI am enrolled in Sports Marketing because I am extremely interested in sports. I have been playing sports since I was four years old, and expect to learn more about Sports marketing. In SEM, I am hoping to learn the aspects of what sports use to advertise their teams, and make themselves look great. I am anxious to see what we are going to learn in this class.
This past summer was great. I started it out by going to a nats game to see strasburg pitch. sadly it was the first game he lost. then near the end of the summer my whole family and I went to the Bosie State Vs. Virginia Tech football game at Fedex field. it was a great but Bosie State cam out ion tope by one field goal.

This summer I watched the world cup. My dad is from Spain, so me and the rest of my family cheered for Spain. Spain had a rough start when they lost their first game against Switzerland. Even though Spain lost their first game they still won the world cup. It was the first time that Spain ever won the world cup, so that was what affected me this summer.

What I hope to get out of sports marketing is just get more information about the sports entertainment marketing. It also seems like interesting class to take. It also seemed that I could get the opportunity to learn more about the sport marketing business.

This summer was an amazing summer for me. I started doing Cross Country which is a lot of fun. I also learned that my dad got tickets to 3 Redskins games this season. A friend of my dad’s son plays for the NFL and said he would be glad to get us tickets. This will be life changing because I have never been to a NFL game before.

I was also hoping to learn more about sports too. I know things about the NFL but I was hoping to learn more about other sports as well. A sports event that impacted my life in the past year was. When they were advertising madden 11. It made me so hyped to play football. This made me really want to do football, because at first I did really want to play. It affected me because I wasn't sure if I wanted to play football this year or not.

The one thing that brings me down to sports marketing is that I hear that It is a very cool class and fun. Also because my brother took it and he told me that this class will be cool and will help me out with understanding sports. I hope to get a good understanding of sports and its department. Also I hope that this will help me later on in life.
In the past year Strasburg came to the Nationals. I was excited because he was suppose to be very good. I was worried he would not be as good as said to be. I was pretty shocked when he was that good. Then he injured himself and now it's not looking good.
ReplyDeleteI enrolled in this class because I love sports. I want to know more about the economic side of sports. I think this field later in life is interesting. It is very diverse and gives a lot of options. I look forward to the semester in this class.
I play lacrosse for Edison. This past year in the district playoffs we played Hayfield at hayfield. It was an exciting game. We got off to a fast start and got an early lead, but Hayfield came storming back. With a few minutes left Hayfield was up 2. We came back and won that game. The thing that sticks out to me is that, at no point in that game did the team think we were going to lose. The sidelines stayed pumped throughout the game and the whole time we believed in ourselves.
ReplyDeleteI took this class because i play sports and i want to learn about the behind the scenes part of sports. This class shows a multimillion dollar industry. I find it very interesting. There are many different choices and options in this career. I hope this class will give me a better view of this industry.
The event that impacted me was the Super Bowl XLIV, with the New Orlean Saints and Indianapolis Colts. Even though I like the Colts more because the Manning's are my favorite quarterbacks I really didn't care who won. Not only that but the Saints deserved to win with everything happening to them over the past years. I honestly was expecting the Colts to win but the Saints coach ended up calling some very smart calls for the end of the quarter which changed the whole game! The Saints ended up winning which suprised me because the Colts had the game but when the coach called the unexpecting plays it changed which led the Saints to win it all. After the Saints won down in there home city they all partied hard, but not only for one night basically for the rest of the summer.
ReplyDeleteI took this class because I thought it would be very interesting. Espically since im into sports, movies and the whole entertainment industry. My conselour told me I had to pick one more elective and my choice was sports marketing and percussion but even though I took percussion I wanted to try something new and fun. I picked the right class though so im happy with myself whenever I think about sports marketing. So far, the class is very entertaining and not like the other classes I have.
a recent sporting event that had a profound impact on my life was the 2010 world cup. i had placed a $100 bet on netherlands beating brazil and a $200 bet on spain beating netherlands for the cup. i won both bets and won $300. this impacted my life because spain is my favorite team and i also won $300 on top of that.
ReplyDeletei enrolled in Sports & Entertainment Marketing because so many of my friends told me this class is perfect for someone who loves sports. personally, i love almost every sport there is. sports is my obsession and when i heard there's a class that talks about it, i didnt waste any time to put that as my top elective. this class keeps me focused and always paying attention because of the interesting topics that come up in class.

ReplyDeleteThis summer was a very busy summer for me. I didn't really attend many sporting events but one televised sporting event that had an impact on me was the FIBA world championships in Turkey. This had a profound affect on me because I love the game a basketball. Watching a talented group of players such as the USA team play together as a team motivated me to work on my game and become a better teamate. The world championship games really impacted the way i viewed the game of basketball.

I want to learn how to become a succeful marketer because if one day I am a Professional athlete I will need to know how to market myself appropriately. Marketing is where most of the money comes into play in sports. I hope to learn a lot in sports marketing
This summer i didn't really do much related to sports, I did go to a few Nationals baseball games. THis season had to be good, I got to see Strasburg pitch twice. Sadly he was injured and i'm positive many peoples hopes for a good season were resting on his shoulders. Hopefully the Nats can pull out some wins and have a good season.
ReplyDeleteI took this Sports Marketing class becasue i've always been interested in marketing. I've always been active in sportas playing baseball or pick-up football games. I figured that in this class i could combine the two and have some fun.
the sport that changed my life is football. i been playing football since i was five years old. the reason it changed my life is, it made me a responsible person and an organized student also. it also affected my life because the sport is all around me. My family payed football and that's the number one sport we watched then comes soccer.

I love sports, there isn't a day i never talk about it. I feel like i'm going to enjoy everyday being in this class. not only do i liek sport but i like music in general. i can't live without my ipod or football!
My first special event was when I was the captain of my soccer team. This was very speical to me, because I never been a captian of a team and this was very speical. When my coach told me that I was going to be the captain all my friends congratulated me on what a good job I have been doing with team and how I've been helping a lot to make the team better and how to improve in it. I was very affected by this, because I felt very speical at the end of the season, because we won the tournament by me being the captian for the first time.
ReplyDeleteI enrolled in this marketing class,because I love sports and I thought it would be a very interesting class to take. In college I'm planning to take sports and entertainment marketing, because I'm very into the entertainment and sports industry. I don't really know much about marketing yet, but I'm hoping that with this class I would get to learn what sports and entertainment marketing really is. What I hope to get out of this class is that, I just have fun learning more about marketing and learn how to do it. I also hope that this class is a fun and creative class for me.
One event that happened last year that impacted my life in sports is watching the 2009 World Series. It had an impact because I saw how advertisers go aggressively after certain advertising opportunities. Also, I have found that hating a team as much as I hate the Yankees can create a support for another team such as the Phillies. Even though the Yankees won the series, I found myself able to enjoy games that don’t involve my favorite teams and watch more sports altogether. It was a fun time to watch two teams battle on the biggest stage in the sport, considering the passion of each player.
ReplyDeleteI chose to take SEM Marketing because I have always had an interest in business and advertising, and when my favorite subject is combined with it, I find it rather interesting and fun. I have wanted a position in marketing since I became interested in the field. I hope to gain knowledge of this subject so that I am ahead of people who don’t have a clue about SEM Marketing and have an advantage as I look for jobs after college. I hope this class will be a positive experience and I hope I gain the skills necessary to acquire a high-end job int the field of Marketing.
