Global Marketing Blog Assignment # 2 (25 points)

Windows Phone 7 touches down in America

(CNN) -- Stretch out those fingers, because a new breed of touch-screen smartphones hits the U.S. and Canada on Monday.

A pair of phones running the new Windows Phone 7 operating system marks a long overdue refocusing of Microsoft's mobile efforts.

For AT&T customers, Samsung Electronics released its Focus, which boasts a 4-inch, high-contrast screen for showing off Microsoft's revamped operating system.

The other newcomer is HTC's HD7, which has an even bigger screen and is showing up on T-Mobile USA's store shelves. Both models cost $200, with a two-year wireless contract.

  1. The Windows 7 phone provides a new outlook for many potential consumers in regards to cell phones. Many people who may dislike the iPhone or other models can branch out and buy this new phone that has lots of new applications that are different from other phones. Also, people who are involved heavily in their job can benefit from this phone with applications such as outlook. These benefits would be the same in Europe and Asia, as well as any country with cell phones. This is because there are all different types of people everywhere who may not be completely satisfied with their phone provider.

These phones would be introduced in Europe and Asia before North America because there are more people who reside in these countries than in North America. With more people knowing about this product and more people buying this product, it will have a bigger chance of being known by more countries. If I were a representative for these phones traveling to Europe and Asian to meet with the stores that would be carrying these phones, I would have to keep in mind of a few things. One being manners and greetings; all different countries have different ways of greeting eachother with respect, and if I were to be making a business deal I would have to show respect towards the potential buyers. I would also have to keep in mind conversation topics and also any type of gift-giving that I could do during the business deal to further persuade them to buy my product.

  2. The consumer benefits of the new windows phone are that it opens a new market for potential consumers. The Windows 7 phone provides a new choice for consumers with a new option in the Smartphone market. It serves the same functionality as other smart phones but due to the more recent programs it has it serves as a better option. The benefits would be the same in Europe and Asia, because they all rely on communications. Even though there are different people they still use there phones for the same purpose regardless.

The phones are released in Europe and Asia because they heavily fund the telecommunications sectors in those parts of the world and use it as a test market. They do this so the can get reactions and opinions of the people and if it becomes a popular phone then it would spread and cause interest in other parts of the world. If I was a representative for these phones I would have to remember the do's and don't of international business. I would have to remember how to properly greet others depending where I am and also treat them with the most respect. Also, I would have to remember the proper conversation topics and rules of negations because they are not always the same.

  3. Windows 7 phone is a great software creation that I think is great to us the consumers. It will benefit us in many ways especially for the business people, and now that they are thinking about putting this software in the blackberry’s which is also great idea .Asia and Europe have better economy than the U.S, so more people will buy the phone but the benefits on the phone are always the same, regardless of countries. They all us the phone for the same reasons.

I think that the phones will be introduced in Asia and Europe before the U.S because the labor is cheaper over there. Their countries population is also very much larger than the U.S. If I was a representative traveling to Asia or Europe I would be familiar with the appliances it carries and some of the countries greeting. It is very important to know the phone very well. Also how to greet the business people and how to talk, and always show respect.

  4. The windows 7 phone has tons of benefits. This phone will help out business people a lot. The ones who are always on the go so they can type in a word document. They even make or present power points. It can beneficial to kids who didn’t type that essay and need to do it in class. I think that the benefits are the same for every country and nothing really changes but the culture. I think that reasons that the phone will be used for are same across the board.

I think the phones got introduced in Asia and Europe first because they are more tech suave or have more people that are more into phones. There is also more people in those countries so more people will probably. I would be aware for their cultures and why people use phones in their country. If the phone came in a different color then ill make sure that the phone color doesn’t offend that country.

  5. The Windows 7 phone is very interesting and different. It has a 4 inch high contrast screen, for showing off the new operating system. The phone opens with about 1,000 applications, in addition to popular sites, like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Shazam, Yelp and Foursquare. Others are also available for download at launch. These benefits would be the same in Europe and Asia when compared to North America because most, if not all customers are looking for a smart phone with a large screen, and that can also help them in their everyday lives.
Introducing the phone in Europe and Asia before North America, would give manufacturers from North America a feel of how the product would sell, and how well the product would do in another region. This will enable them to know how to approach the production in North America. Being a representative for the phones, I would need to be aware of the dress code and the various customs.

  7. I think that the new phone is going to be deferent from Asia and Europe than north America, because the people in Asia or Europe might not use the same apps that we use in the U.S. this phone is going to benefit almost Avery one that cannot afford a computer with windows 7, now windows and dell are giving an opportunity to have a phone that has windows 7 at a really good price, it might not have the same things that a computer heves, but they can experience a little bit about it.

I think that they introduces the phone to Asia and Europe first, because maybe those two countries might have a very advance technology then here in the U.S. maybe that’s where they manufactured the phones, and they want their people to know about their phones first. If I was representative for these phone I would be aware that they might not do or act the same they do in the U.S, and they’re culture might be deferent.

  8. The customer benifits that comes with the windows 7 phone is that it helps people that do business, because it will help them kepp their time and work organized. I dont think that the benifits, because in my opinion all business people are the same and they use technology the same way to. But maybe in Asisa they should change the benifits because alot of people in Asia use technoogy, and its made there so they should have more benifits.

I think that they should be introduced to Asia and Europe because they know more about technology and they could offer a better opinion. If i was meeting with other people in other countries, then i would need to know how many customers they have and how many potential customers there would be. Also i would need to know about their tradtions so just in case they get offended somehow, we would know how and why. In my opinion i think that this a good phone for countries that are technologicially active and not used to old customs and traditions.

  9. There are some major benefits that come along with Windows 7. You can check your email from your phone without the hassle of getting to a desktop computer. You can also use programs like Microsoft Word directly from the phone. This is very helpful when you’re on the road and you have to type or edit a paper. I think these two benefits will be world wide benefits. It shouldn’t matter where you are in the world these two benefits should work. I feel it won’t change the benefits because these benefits are incorporated in the phone’s software.

They introduced the phone in Europe and Asia first because they use technology more than the U.S. Or maybe they want to test the product out before bringing it to the U.S. Before having a meeting in a different country you must learn their culture and their speaking and greeting habits. Remember you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

  10. It's no surprise Microsoft has worked it's way to the newest ,popular technology today , eliminating their competition.
Advertising , and introducing their new product to the most fastest ,growing countries as well in both population and economy wise , Asia and Europe and then expanding to North America , was a smart move since Asia and Europe customers are looking for a Hi-Tech , touchscreens , Next generation smart phones.
Bsing AT&T and T-Mobile , the two popular worldwide phone companies , can actually make the phone successful and there's no doubt it will succeed.

This is something i'm really interested in and see how it will work.
I being a Samsung Android user ,can see what Windows Phone 7 can provide but since the Android i have is for Sprint , i need to wait until next year along with Verizon to see expeirence , as mention in the article .

I would like to see how this product works out from them. I have a Droid and can do most of the same things but I want to see how windows 7 can work this out. They will try and get people to pick there phone when they want or need a new phone. I worry that the other companies will come out with the same idea on there phones and over take them.
